Wategos Beach

Wategos Beach is a beach on the far north tip of Byron Bay. It is the most popular and beautiful beach on this part of the coast. Wategos is probably the most photographed beach of them as it is just beautiful location to swim.

It is a popular surfing beach that reaches both north and south of Wategos Point. This pretty 2 kilometer (1.2 mi) long beach is backed by sand dunes, and access to the water is limited in the north by a reef break and rocky point in the south.

Belongil Beach

Belongil Beach is one of the best beaches in the Byron Bay region. It’s also a place where you can relax as you swim and take in the views. Belongil is a northern suburb of Byron Bay, about 5 minutes drive from the town centre.

It’s also famous for another couple of reasons. First, it’s a dog-friendly beach where you can spend the afternoon with your best friend playing around the beautiful white sand.

Second, it’s well known for being a topless beach. So if you enjoy a bit of sun in all its heavenly glory and give the other puppies some love, you will love this beach.

The Pass Beach Byron Bay

This is one of the best beaches in Byron Bay. It is a tiny beach to the north of Byron Bay and it is not known for its bar or facilities.

However, what makes it famous is its hidden Pinnacle. A stunning limestone rock tower juts out from the sand, which locals say resembles a castle’s drawbridge – hence “The Pass”. There are also rock pools underneath that are great for swimming and snorkelling. This beautiful beach can be found about 5 minutes drive from Byron Bay centre.

It’s also the tamest of the beaches and rather family friendly. A lot of locals come here and make it a fun family day.
